Post-Doctoral Research Assistant A Statistician / Population Geneticist is required to work on a project entitled "Bayesian inference of the genealogy of a predominantly selfing population from multi-locus genotype data". Main duties will include: 1. Writing a programme for making Bayesian inferences about the genealogy of selfing lines and the outcrossing rate, from multi-locus genotypic data. 2. Writing a programme for simulating the genealogy of a sample from a small, predominantly selfing population. 3. Testing the performance of the Bayesian inferences programme on data generated by the simulation programme. Candidates should have a PhD in population genetics, statistics or other relevant field and an understanding of Bayesian inference. Previous experience with design and implentation of MCMC (Markov Chain Monte Carlo) methods would be an advantage. Available for 3 years in the first instance, the appointment is within Band 6-PD with a salary range normally between £20,200 and £24,000 per annum.
