Dear all Good news? Earlier in the year we had some discussion about awarding bursaries from Hardship Funds to students who do not fall into the categories exempt from the requirement to take out a Hardship Loan. The question was whether institutions had to require the student to take out a Hardship Loan before awarding a Bursary. The Guidance on Student Support funding for 2002/03 Section 1 (Page 21) para 28 and 29 "Other Bursaries" says "students will be required to take out their full entitlement of student loan before the bursary can be paid" I have spoken on the phone today to Shawana Williams of the Dfes Hardship Loans Team who says that this requirement does NOT include any requirement to take out the Hardship Loan.
