Dear All
Does anybody use Maxijul liquid as the glucose load for OGTTs? If so, what volume do they use? Carbohydrate concentration is 50g/100ml, but this is prepared from hydrolysed cornstarch and is supposed to provide glucose polymers approximately 5 molecules long. After questioning the manufacturers, SHS International Ltd, they are not sure what volume is equivalent to 75g anhydrous glucose and suggested that maybe this preparation should not be used for anything other than its prime use, as an energy supplement.
What do other laboratories now use as the glucose load?
