Over the last few years I have had a number of requests from individuals to add Renin to the UK NEQAS for Steroid Hormones panel to complement Aldosterone. There are some 'problems' with this: [1] very few laboratories seem to offer this analyte so the number of participants is likely to be sub-optimal for effective EQA [2] there may be difficulties with sample stability [3] because of [1] it may not be worth my expending resources on investigating and establishing [2] Following another request this week, I thought I would invite this list (a) to find out how many labs offer renin assays (b) how many of those labs (UK and countries within rapid air mail transport range) would wish to participate in this EQA scheme (c) how many of those labs would be willing to collaborate in identifying donors and preparing materials for distribution (b) = 25+ and (c) = 5+ would ensure rapid progress! If you can answer YES to (a), please reply to me at [log in to unmask] not this list (unless you think there is a general discussion point to raise) with a response for (b) and (c) thanks Jonathan Middle ============================================ Jonathan Middle, UK NEQAS Birmingham tel 0121 414 7300 fax 0121 414 1179 This message is intended only for the above recipient(s).
