I was under the impression that, if you were giving glucose in water, you dissolved it in 250 mL and followed it by a further 250 mL of water. The glucose solution has a very high osmolality and this can delay gastric emptying (or, worse, induce vomiting). To give the equivalent of 75 g anhydrous glucose using Lucozade requires a volume of 394 mL.
