We use a small bench top analyser, the AVL 9180 (now supplied by Roche). You can specify Lithium as one of the ion selective electrodes installed. We have found it to work very well.

On the topic of monitoring lithium therapy we recommend 12h post dose but of course will analyse lithium at any time in suspected overdose.
