The SAS Centres have recently announced that they will be withdrawing urinary aldosterone assays as an SAS service with effect from this April. This has come as a slight shock to our local endocrinologist who felt that it still had some role as a diagnostic test. Is this no longer a valid point-of-view? Is there anyone else left in the UK who will still be providing this service if we fail to convince him that this is now an obsolete test? Gary Firth Princess Royal Hospital
