I open my library at 8.30am. I am a school librarian in South Ayrshire. I
operate a school library jointly with the branch public library i.e. we
share the samae work space and shelves. I don't find it very satisfactory
as a situation. My main problem is that the public libraries opening hours
do not coincide with mine. I am open from 8.30 till 4.00pm whereas the
public library is open 1pm tp 7pm twice a week and 10-12 & 1-5 three days.
So I get members of the public wandering in when only the school library is
open and then getting cross because I won't serve them. Not good for
public relations. not to mention the way it violates the Cullen report
recommendations.
I don't have any assistants and, although i get 30 mins. lunch break, in
practise I tend to snatch a few minutes at my desk.

Does this help?
