Dear Listmembers, GEO-SLOPE International Ltd. is pleased to announce the dates for our 2nd Annual GEO-SLOPE Workshop to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on April 8, 9 and 10th, 2002. This workshop is designed for anyone involved in utilizing or interpreting GEO-SLOPE software products, including junior and senior geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, soil scientists, project managers, consultants, and government agency representatives dealing with geotechnical engineering. The three-day workshop has been designed to benefit virtually any geotechnical engineer, regardless of numerical modelling experience. Day one will educate participants through a series of lectures, presentations and demonstrations. Expert and professional lecturers will review the fundamentals of geotechnical engineering and will provide guidance regarding the pleasures and pitfalls of numerical modelling. On Day two, the workshop will split into two sessions. Participants can choose to continue attending lecture sessions for all or a portion of the day. Those participants who are eager (or keen) can start putting their knowledge to work in a designated computer area working through multi- lesson workbooks under the guidance of GEO-SLOPE personnel. On Day three, all participants will be involved with hands-on computer work, setting up and solving problems to help reinforce new concepts and to gain as much experience as possible working with the various features of the software. Whether you wish to become an expert modeler in a specific GEO-SLOPE application or are learning to use a new one, this workshop is designed for you. Throughout the workshop, a separate area will be maintained where you can dialogue with GEO-SLOPE personnel on any GEO SLOPE software package including our latest Version 5 releases, Seep3D, QUAKE/W and our new 2D flux boundary seepage model. We are also encouraging participants to bring and present brief case histories where GEO-SLOPE products have been used around the world.
