Dear colleagues,
We have a 25 yr old female patient who is said to be "fat intolerant".
Routine biochemistry and haematology are unremarkable.
On 2 separate occasions (about 6 months apart) we have done pancreolauryl
tests and got 10.3 and 2.3 % (pancreatic insufficiency suggested if <20%)
and at the same times faecal elastase was >500 and 385 ug/g respectively
(pancreatic insufficiency suggested if <200).
I am confidant that the pancreolauryl tests have been done correctly (and
the urine volumes are in typical ranges).
So the question is - why the discrepancy between the two tests? I would be
grateful for any comments/suggestions.
Happy New Year to you all.
