The Department of Earth Sciences offers a full

Post-Doc Position, BAT IIA (3 years) in Numerical Tectonic Modelling


The successful candidate will create and modify programs to model
strain-dependent rock rheology , including the effects of melting and
metamorphic reactions within Earth´s crust and upper mantle. This work
is part of a special research project (SFB 267) to examine the
controlling factors of Neogene shortening and topography of the Andean
mountain belt. The project will involve close collaboration with
researchers at the FU-Berlin and the nearby GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ).

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Geophysics or Geology, or
alternatively, an MSc in Physics, Materials Science, or Mechanical
Engineering. In the latter case, a Ph.D.degree can be obtained during
the project.

Applications should include a letter of intent specifying career goals
and research interests, a curriculum vitae with at least 2 references, a
list of publications, and proof of attendance at academic institutions
(transcripts, awarded degrees, etc.).
