medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture The change on war goes along with a larger issue of the role of clergy, direct or indirect, in the shedding of blood. Sally Scully wrote a dissertation on this topic in the 1970's, but it did not become a book. Also related is the issue of the Just War, on which see Fred Russell's book with that same title.
