 County Durham stretches from the North Pennines to the coast and has a rich and
 varied  heritage  ?  from  prehistoric  and Roman settlement, through the world
 heritage  site  of  Durham  Cathedral  and  Castle, into the industrial period.
 Working  within  a vibrant local studies environment, including collections and
 site  management, the County Archaeologist plays a critical role in the life of
 the County.

 You  will be an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative professional, with the
 leadership  and  other  skills  necessary  to  build  on our successes (such as
 England's first online SMR) and to promote archaeology to wider audiences.  You
 will also have a relevant degree and at least 2 years management experience.
