I've just checked with Anna Lemmon, the subject officer at QCA, who tells me that they are accredited until 2006 -which is quite a long time in qualification terms. If people want to work to keep them alive, I suggest that you do it through the EBEA has it has a good relationship with QCA and a reputation for pestering the DfES.

I attended a conference run by Edexcel recently at which delegates were told that the Full Award GNVQ Foundation and Intermediate would be certificated until 2004. Therefore the last cohort of one-year students would begin in 2003. We were told that Edexcel are reviewing their BTEC First courses to fill the void left by the demise of Full Award GNVQs.

Our school has subscribed, like many others, to the Thomas Telford ICT scheme and we also run full award GNVQs in Business and Health and Social Care in Key Stage 4. We would very much want to join any lobby that seeks to prolong the life of these qualifications. Please let me know how we can do this most effectively.

Hi

VGCSE is replacing Part 1 but Foundation and Intermediate will run for another two years - at least. Anyone want to lobby for its continuation beyond 2003?
