Attn: NZ and Aust list members: Academics with disabilities mentoring elist
established

After an extraordinary response to an email I informally circulated around
my networks a e-group has been establish to exploring how to get this
venture up and running. The group is not disability studies specific. Rather
its target group are those individuals who identify as 'having disabilities'
doing post grad work, and/or lecturing in higher education.

Cheers
Fiona

LIST DESCRIPTION:

The list has been established to discuss and establish a mentoring project
for academics with 'disabilities' who work in higher education in Australia
and New Zealand.

Part of our task is to increase the presence and visibility of faculty
members with disabilities, to support students to undertake post graduate
study and consider a career as an academic and to also identify and
eliminate any 'disability'- related barriers that impact on hirings and
tenure.
