TELL CONGRESS CHIROPRACTORS DON'T PROVIDE PRIMARY CARE

The House of Representatives and Senate have passed
separate bills on health care for veterans, and the House
bill contains provisions that would allow chiropractors to
be designated as primary care providers. The House-Senate
conference committee began considering the two bills today.
The Academy is seeking your help in notifying Congress that
chiropractors do not provide primary care and are not
trained to do so. Fortunately, the Bush administration also
opposes allowing chiropractors to act as primary care
providers -- see the statement at
( http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/legislative/sap/107-1/HR2792-h.html ).
To send your lawmakers an e-mail seeking defeat of the chiropractor
provision, go to ( http://capitol.aafp.org/ ). Under the action alert
on the chiropractor language, click as indicated, enter your ZIP code,
and e-mail your letter to your lawmakers. Timing is crucial;
the conference committee may complete its action on the bill by
Tuesday, Oct. 30. If you'd prefer to phone your lawmakers, call
(202) 224-3121.
