QSR announces an entirely new program, Merge for NVivo. It is for those using NVivo and wishing to compare, contrast, align and optionally merge projects from different sites, team members, approaches or stages. The ability to merge NVivo projects has been much requested and we've responded to those requests with a new approach, making Merge for NVivo a different program from QSR's Merge for the NUD*IST software (N4 or N5). Like Merge for the NUD*IST software, Merge for NVivo checks two projects for similarities and differences, and can merge their documents and coding. But Merge for NVivo offers new tools to do more than merging, and to do it with each of the parts of NVivo's more subtle databases. Merge for NVivo aligns and reports on the input projects' documents, nodes, coding, attributes, links and search results. Whether or not you want to merge the projects, you can align them, to compare the work of different researchers or the results from different stages or sites. The align process gives statistics comparing each aspect of the input projects and provides a detailed audit of differences. The researcher can set the rules about what to do with clashing items, and how to adapt the projects to discoveries. So the align process can be used for ongoing comparison and assessment. Or you can use it for reorganizing items, renaming or shifting them, pruning or developing copies of the projects to fine-tailor them for merging and cross-project searching and cumulative work. The merge process can be done at any stage and you can continue in either the separate or the integrated project. The original projects remain unchanged. Details are on the website at http://www.qsrinternational.com/products/products.html . For those who do not yet have Merge for NVivo but are working in NVivo with a view to aligning and merging projects later on, there is advice about preparing projects for using the processes of aligning and merging. (As for any of our software, you can purchase from the website: allow 5 days for shipping from the distribution point nearest you.) Apologies for crossposting: and please don't reply to the list!!!
