Public Libraries & Basic Skills
Project Officer
Read Routes: keeping London reading is the first ever adult pan-London reader development project. It will place public libraries at the heart of the burgeoning reader development scene by establishing library users as the central element in a series of branded, high quality, imaginative reader development projects that will operate across all 33 London Boroughs.
An essential part of the Read Routes project will be to explore how public libraries can develop an effective and sustainable relationship with individuals with Basic Skills needs as well as services providing information, guidance, teaching and other forms of support.
Funded for one year by the DCMS / Wolfson Public Libraries Challenge Fund, the London Libraries Development Agency, on behalf of a wide range of partner agencies, is now seeking to recruit a Project Officer to transform approaches to this work. There is a host of opportunities available – it will be your task to uncover the possibilities, prioritise, and then work with others to realise your vision.
You will:
This is the first time libraries across London have had the opportunity to develop a co-ordinated, systematic and effective approach to Basic Skills work. If you would like to take the opportunity to achieve this, contact
