medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Dear Eric,

I think we will all be happy to wait for further news of Margaret until
you get home from your holiday. I can, however, supply some information
relevant to other parts of your posting that you may find interesting.

The editor of the text in PL 124 is J.-B. Du Sollier (aka Joannes Baptista
Sollerius). The edn first appeared separately as Martyrologium Usuardi
monachi ... (Antwerp 1714) and then in Acta sanctorum, Iun. 6-7 [the
second half of each vol.] (Antwerp 1715-1717). In the more widely
available 3rd edn of AASS, this text appears in one vol., Iun. 6 (Paris
1866). It is also reproduced in Migne, PL, vol. 123-124.

Also, I think the ms you are referring to has been found in western
Europe. P. C. Boeren, Catalogus van de handschriften van het Rijksmuseum
Meermanno-Westreenianum ('s-Gravenhage 1979) pp. 109f, describes cod. 10 D
17, fol. 1-155v as a copy of Usuard's martyrology written before 1350,
from the Franciscan convent of Nysted on the Danish island of Lolland.
He says that Du Sollier used this ms citing it as the codex Danicus,
Boll.
85 (1967) 379f.

Sorry to cast doubt on your Dracula theory.

Cheers,
John
