£1000 POSTGRADUATE PRIZE - MEDICAL SOCIOLOGY

The BSA Medical Sociology Group Committee is pleased to announce an
increase in the value of the Phil Strong Memorial prizes from £650
to £1000. The purpose of these prizes is to contribute to the
advancement of medical sociology by supporting postgraduate
research in medical sociology leading to a higher degree. We
expect to award three or four prizes.

The prize is normally used for fieldwork, travel, expenses and / or
attendance at a specialist course. Postgraduate students should
submit a proposal of not more than 800 words and a supporting
letter from their supervisor. The closing date is August 31 2001.

In previous years, we have had few applications, so please
encourage any postgrads to apply.
