Postgraduate funding in Languages at University of Wales Swansea University of Wales Swansea's School of European Languages is offering a number of funding opportunities for taught postgraduate study in European Literatures, TEFL, and Literary Translation, or research in any area of specialism covered by staff in the School. The following languages, literatures and cultures are taught at postgraduate level: Catalan, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Welsh. A Mary Williams Research Studentship in French. This three- year award is for a suitably qualified applicant wishing to pursue research leading to the award of a PhD in any area of French studies in which the Department has expertise. The studentship covers full academic fees plus a living allowance of £6,800 per year. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for AHRB funding in year two. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed or are near to completing a relevant taught MA programme. 2. Up to four fees bursaries (value: £2,805) for one-year programmes including: - MA in European Literatures (1 language or 2) - MA in French Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies, or Welsh - MA in Literary Translation (1 language or 2) - MA in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) - MPhil (1 year research degree by dissertation) These bursaries cover full academic fees at the UK/EU rate. 3. For the vocational MA in Translation with Language Technology only, 20 full-time and 15 part-time bursaries under the European Objective One Programme for South and West Wales and the Valleys. These bursaries, which cover full academic fees plus a living allowance of £3,910 per year (or pro rata), are available only to applicants normally resident and intending to work in the Objective One region of Wales. Eligibility All the above awards are open to suitably qualified UK and EU graduates. Applicants will be expected to have or be about to obtain a relevant First Class or Upper Second Class BA (Hons) or equivalent from a recognised university.
