SALARY (12794-17912 pounds sterling)
33 months  appointment.

An exciting new post has been created which will enable an enthusiastic
statistician to develop their skills.  This post is financed by a grant from
NHSE to develop 'An improved statistical methodology for using risk and
case-mix adjusted length of stay, LOS,  as an efficiency performance
indicator for the NHS'.  HRDSU is  a multi-disciplinary team  supporting NHS
research in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, providing  statistical
consulting, teaching, and research in the area of medical statistics. HRDSU
is one of a number of research centres at the university specialising in
health research.

The successful applicant will have a good degree in which mathematics or
statistics or computer science is a significant component, or a postgraduate
degree with some research component. Substantial IT and computing experience
is essential. Participating in this research should provide an excellent
training in the derivation and application of modern statistical methods and
their application in healthcare management. This research can lead to a
higher degree.
