Who would want to be a chief librarian in the 21st century? With the
ongoing pressures of funding; the need to plan servies in the context of
government initiatives such as Best Value; the impending national library
standards - you may well ask! Few chief librarians are better qualified
than Trevor Knight to talk about the challenges of running a modern,
relevant and dynamic library service in a changing world. But it's not
all gloom, and Trevor will be covering the highs as well as the lows,
including some new initiatives he is involved with - 'friends of the
library' groups and public library networking at international level.

Everyone working in or involved with Library and Information Services in
Surrey and the surrounding area is very welcome to attend this meeting.
The AGM itself will be very brief!
