Three posts: Senior Research Associate / Research Associate / Tutorial Fellow Research Capacity Building This project is part of the ESRC five year Teaching and Learning Research Programme. The project is aimed at building research-capacity relevant to teaching and learning in all phases and sectors. It is part of the development of education’s contribution to social science research and to evidence-based policy and practice. There are three posts available and applications are invited from candidates with experience in any relevant discipline, including education, health, statistics, psychology, sociology, criminology or economics, for example. The precise nature of the roles and activities of the posts are dependent upon the individuals appointed. It would, therefore, be appropriate for candidates to apply for more than one, or even all, of the posts. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for the work to improve the quality of social science research; an ability to deal professionally with a range of interested parties; and a willingness to work both independently and as part of a team. Senior Research Associate/Research Associate (RAII/III) Salary: £23,256-£36,740 Fixed-term (Three years) This more experienced researcher will be appointed for the duration of the project. He/she will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the project. In particular, he/she will play a key role in an audit of research needs, operate as a mentor/buddy for other Programme Researchers, make a significant contribution to training courses, and assist in the evaluation of existing training resources and in the publishing of reports and protocols. He/she will share the responsibilities of the more senior Research Associate, helping to complete the audit of research needs. Applicants must be able to teach social science research methods and at least one other substantive area (such as education studies) at undergraduate and postgraduate level. This post could well suit two part-time persons with complementary skills. Applicants should have a postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional experience.
