A friend of mine, a single parent, has a little boy recently diagnosed with Asperger's Sydrome. She is an good artist, very creative, so she sent her boy to Steiner School . It didn't work out. For one thing it was a government school with a Steiner stream - and the "powers that be" really didn't understand Steiner principles; for another she has discovered he wasn't her - and (she feels) needs more STRUCTURE in his schooling. She finally moved into the hills because she found a (small) government school (almost a "non sequiteur" in this State after nine years of conservative government) where the principal knows all the children by name and knows their strength and weaknesses and where the staff are more than willing to help put in place the assistance he needs.
