Dear All,
This is to announce an intention to reopen the DC-Citation Working
Group (bibliographic citation information about journal articles).
Although the DC-Citation WG made recommendations following
DC8 (and DC7) and then was effectively closed (though still shown
as open on the DC web site), the recommendations were not taken
forward and so could be seen as still open issues.
A small group of interested people met at the University Of Bath,
UK, in March to discuss the issue. Progressing a proposal through
the DC Usage board is expected to be through the WG structure.
Being pragmatic it seems more sensible to reopen the DC-Citation
WG rather than create a new one.
Anyone who is interested in this issue, and who is not already
subscribed, is invited to join the dc-citation email list. Any
discussion on this topic should take place on the dc-citation list.
Next week I will email dc-citation with more information about the
proposed scope of the WG, the outcome of the Bath meeting and
further work planned.
