Ashbourne News Telegraph 11 Aprilp.3 REVIVAL FOR WELL DRESINGS AFTER 80 YEAR'S BREAK After an interval of more than 80 years,the former Kniveton tradition of well dressings is to be revived together with another defunct local custom,Kniveton Field Day. The event is to be held on Jue 23 and 24 and the idea is to dress the schol well,village pump and possibly the well in Chapel Lan e.Help is particularly needed the week befor and also to provide refreashments in the village hall on both days from about 10amt until 5 or 6pm. There will be craft stals on the field and possibly in the hall and there will also be a fun fair on the school field. Current members of th e well dressings committee are May Smail,Rosemar y Gooch,Bob Goodall and Mrs Tucker - others are welcome to join. The blessings of the wells will take place at 10am on Sunday June 24,starting at the church door,then school well,the village pump and progrssing on to the monthly united service at the Metghodist Chapel at 11am.
