medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture I'd never assume that Jacques (James) and Jean (John) were the same person, nor would I assume that Jean was JBap. Rather I'd suppose Jean was the Beloved Disciple if his name came with no qualifiers. Just my opinion; I'm sure you'll get more lucid and learned responses.
