Many thanks, Hayden Lorimer ___________________________________________________________________________ Research Assistant - University of Aberdeen 'Pedestrian geographies: walking, knowing and placing Scotland's mountains' Department of Geography and Environment Department of Anthropology Applications are invited for this ESRC-funded project, which will explore how outdoor knowledges, practices and identities are formed and used among recreational hill-walkers on Scotland's mountains. The Research Associate will gather observational data, including digital recordings and photographs, during a series of summer and winter hill-walking outings. They will also co-ordinate focus groups and collaborate in the analysis and writing up of the project. A postgraduate qualification in a social science discipline and experience of qualitative research methods in social settings is desirable. An interest in issues of place and landscape, environmental sustainability and nature-culture relations would be advantageous, as would an enthusiasm for walking.
