VACANCIES - DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTING SCIENCE

The Department has been awarded substantial EPSRC funding for a new
Masters-level Training Package in Electronic Commerce Technology.  This
programme covers state-of-the-art e-business ICT skills, including
customer profiling, electronic marketplaces, intelligent user interfaces,
and knowledge asset management.

LECTURER
18,731 - 30,967 pounds per annum

You will have an established research record in an area which enhances
the existing research strengths of the department (rated 4 in 1996 RAE).
You should have a PhD in Computing Science or related discipline and will
probably have postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. There will
be a requirement to contribute to teaching and administration. Initially
you will contribute to teaching the MTP in Electronic Commerce
Technology, but in the longer term, you must be prepared to teach at any

TEACHING FELLOW/ASSISTANT

PROGRAMMER
16,775 - 19,482 pounds per annum

You should have an Honours degree in Computing Science or another subject
with significant computing content, including knowledge of programming in
Java, databases, web technologies, and general principles of e-commerce.
Both postholders will support the new MTP in E-Commerce Technology,
assisting academic staff with the implementation of course materials,
exercises and web-based learning materials.

Teaching Fellow/Assistant (ref FCS101A): some experience of teaching or
demonstrating is desirable; appointment at the level of Teaching Fellow
requires a PhD.  This full-time post is available for 18 months; duties
will include the teaching of some modules, and demonstrating.

Programmer (ref FCS102A): available either as 12 months full-time, or 36
months half-time. If appointed part time, the Programmer will be expected
also to undertake postgraduate research leading to an MPhil/PhD degree,
in an area related to e-commerce technology.  Informal enquiries can be
