medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture My sincere thanks to those who have, at short notice, replied about heffalumps. In the space of a very few hours, we have chapter and verse from our pachydermatologistical (?) colleagues. I had not known that this list was so rich in mammalian specialists! My Norwegian correspondent tells me (fictionally) that heffalumps swim there to die. But he is, after all, a novelist. And Norway is, after all, reasonably near Samoa, isn't it? Or have I got my geography a bit wrong? Niels Fredrik Dahl will have a short play premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. Not heffalump-related in particular, but maybe worth looking out for for anyone who can make Edinburgh late August/early September? This list needs more people who know abouit 'real life'. Heffalumps is one aspect only!
