        FES/NFS 
        SEMINAR/USER GROUP MEETING

        Venue: Lecture Theatre, RSS, London

        The Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Ministry of
Agriculture Fisheries and Food (MAFF) who commission the FAMILY EXPENDITURE
SURVEY and NATIONAL FOOD SURVEY respectively are collaborating on a merger
programme to produce a single expenditure and food survey (EFS).  Denis
Down, Reg Gatenby and Tony Manners (ONS) and Stan Speller (MAFF) will
present the plans and progress so far, and are keen to get participants'
views on publishing outputs from the new EFS. Speakers from the UK Data
Archive and MIMAS will introduce their work as service providers of key
social science and historical data resources and there will be papers
presented by current users of the FES/NFS.

        The meeting will be chaired by Professor Andrew Chesher (Department
of Economics, University College London).
