Although in modern Geman called "Petersdom", St. Peter's is not the cathedral of the Roman bishop, and the Pope's chapel is the Sistina. But in St. Peter's there is the famous "cathedra Petri", of perhaps carolingian origin, and so the housing church could be called "cathedral" cum grano salis.
