How space efficient is space efficient? Probably the highest density is available with mobile shelving systems, but they are hardly user friendly! It really depends on whether you need reader access to your system or not, what weight your floor can take (even standard steel map-presses are enormously heavy) whether you need space for maps to be spread out, whether map storage is separate from office space and many other factors, any one of which would determine what type of system you went for. A firm which could provide one system might not be able to provide another - for example, mobile shelving is fairly specialized, but cabinets may be available from whatever office supplier you have a deal with.
