The Association for Women in Slavic Studies is opening its electronic discussion list to all interested members of the academic community. AWSS-L is a monitored list that acts as a clearing house for information concerning the study of gender and women's issues in all disciplines of Slavic area studies, including history, literature, the social sciences, and the arts. Postings include conference and publication announcements, discussions of current issues in the field, and the biweekly job, internship, and funding guides. We would also like to invite you to join AWSS, a non-profit organization that encourages research and teaching about women's studies, gender and family issues in central/eastern Europe and the territories of the former Soviet Union. Members receive the AWSS newsletter Women East-West, and will receive a significant discount on the forthcoming bibliography, Women and Gender in Russia and Eastern Europe: A Comprehensive Bibliography (2 vols.). Memberships are for the calendar year. Annual dues for the Association are $30.00 ($10 for students); joint memberships to the same address are an additional $5. Associate memberships for scholars outside North America are available at $10. Life memberships are $500 payable in two installments.
