Using a mini disc really enhances the soundquality. The equipment gives you almost professional sound quality even when doing focus groups. Following the interview I record the interview onto my PC (via the microphone jack in the soundcard) as MP3 and then uses Code-a-text for transcription which works really well. Obviously it is a hassle to replay the whole interview while recording it to the PC but that's the only solution I know of. Another solution, if you don't need to transcribe is to code sound sequences in Atlas-ti. If so is it worth the extra money to have the ability to edit data and is the sound quality any better than using a dictaphone. Thanks for you help Liz O'Brien
