I just found an image of Leviathan from a 12th-c. Alsatian ms. showing a triumphant Christ on the cross exiting Lev's mouth and was reminded that Rupert of Deutz wrote (can't recall ref.) that Christ's humanity was the bait and his divinity, the hook by which Satan was vanquished.
