Jean-Hervé,
Boesseneck, in his book 'Die Tierwelt des Alten Ägypten' (1988)
has a good discussion on the domestication of geese in Egypt (apparently
the earliest evidence for the domestication of this species). Noebert Benecke's
(1994) ' Der Mensch und seine Haustiere' has sections on the domestication
and use of goose and duck.
