RESEARCH OFFICER/FELLOW
Required immediately to work on a major DETR funded research
project Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA), as well as other projects
funded by the EU. The work includes analysis of accident
databases to predict the safety impact of ISA, work on modelling
the network effects of ISA, and involvement in ISA field trials. A
good first degree with a substantial quantitative element e.g. Civil
Engineering, Psychology, Geography or Social Science is
required. Ideally you should have a postgraduate degree in a
transport related discipline plus experience in road safety and/or
modelling and/or driver behaviour.
Experience of managing research projects or work packages would
be preferred as would an ability to develop new research proposals.
Excellent IT skills will be required in order to produce reports and
manage large volumes of data. Data analysis, particularly relating
to accidents, will be involved and preference will be given to
applicants with skills in modelling, experimental statistics and/or
experience of cost benefit analysis.

This post is for a fixed term of two years in the first instance, with
the possibility of renewal.
Salary on either RIA (£16775-£25213p.a) or RII (£23256-£30967p.a)
depending on qualifications and previous experience.
