                     Post-doctoral Fellow Position Available
             Howard Florey Institute, University of Melbourne

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellow position in human and
animal functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) research at the Howard
Florey Institute (www.hfi.unimelb.edu.au), University of Melbourne,
Australia. The position is for two years, starting immediately and is
renewable for up to one additional year at this stage.

The Howard Florey Institute consists of over 150 full time researchers
involved in neuroscience research areas including neuroimaging,
neurobiology, neurochemistry, brain development, and neuroinformatics, as
well as in cardiovascular pharmacology. The institute is located on the
University of Melbourne campus adjacent to the Medical Faculty and in close
proximity to a number of university hospitals.

The successful applicant will have access to a 3 Tesla whole body human MR
scanner and a 4.7 Tesla small bore MR scanner, as well as extensive animal
research laboratories and advanced image processing and visualisation
laboratories. The post-doctoral fellow will join an active research team
undertaking functional imaging investigations into the cortical and
sub-cortical correlates of primal emotions, such as thirst and air hunger.

Qualifications : A PhD or MD qualification with some experience in human
fuctional neuroimaging using MRI is essential. Experience in MR
imaging/spectroscopy of small animals is also desirable. Experience in the
use of computers for neuroimaging data analysis will be advantageous.
