MATHEMATICAL MODELLER - Imaging Research Solutions Ltd. Based at the Hammersmith Hospital. Imaging Research Solutions Ltd (IRSL) is a new company formed as a joint venture between Nycomed Amersham and the Medical Research Council - developing from the former MRC Cyclotron Unit. IRSL has been established to carry out research in Imaging, in particular Positron Emission Tomography, for the Pharmaceutical Industry and for the Medical Research Council, and to work with the R&D department of Nycomed Amersham Imaging to develop new PET radio-pharmaceuticals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of mathematical models, data and image processing techniques relating image acquisition to the underlying Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. The research will be carried out in a multidisciplinary environment, comprising Physicists, Computer Scientists, Statisticians and Mathematicians working in collaboration with Biologists and Clinical Research Groups in Neurology, Psychiatry, Cardiology and Oncology. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant research area, which could range from Applied Mathematics, pharmacokinetics, through nuclear medicine to pharmacology. Familiarity with numerical computing would be expected and experience in PET or other imaging modalities would be an advantage.
