Principles of Forecasting: A Handbook for Researchers and Practitioners, by
J. Scott Armstrong is now available from Kluwer. It uses knowledge from
experts and empirical studies to provide forecasting principles. The 30
chapters cover all types of forecasting methods: judgmental, such as Delphi,
role-playing, and intentions; and quantitative, such as conjoint analysis,
econometric methods, expert systems, and extrapolation. It also examines
methods for using forecasts (e.g., scenarios). Forty authors contributed,
among them Hal Arkes, Baruch Fischhoff, Larry Gregory, Nigel Harvey, Michael
Lawrence, Don MacGregor, Marcus O’Connor, Tom Stewart, and George Wright.
