"The following year, summer of '65, Bunting came to
Buffalo (thanks to John Wieners' pushing it) and I met him every morning for
coffee. He often told me dirty limericks that he, Ezra Pound, and Yeats made up
when they all lived in Rapallo (Italy). He gave a marvelous reading when his book LOQUITUR was published. Then, when the
University of Buffalo wanted to withhold some pay, Bunting told them if he
didn't get the money in three days, he would inform the local newspaper that he
was a Communist. He got the money."
