DeKooning's late canvases, which I saw at MOMA a few years ago, were--dare I
say?--"feminine" in their use of pinks & greens. And as someone else has
pointed out, very curvy. It's said that he was in the early & mid- stages of
Alzheimer's when he painted them. We should all be so blessed by the gods.
As for the misogyny of some of his work, it is at least a true picture of a
certain attitude & is a painting that exhibits misogyny for the viewer's
inspection necessarily misogynist?
