And to that we could add Catullus and Clodia, Ovid and Julia, and Properitus
and -- who?

But these are more figures towards whom the writing of poetry is directed
(analogous to the Dark Lady rather than the young Man in Shakespeare) than
they are muse figures -- I'd still want to argue that something new comes in
with the dolce stil nuovo.
