Hello all. I am just sending out invitations in the form of a colourful bookmark to the launch of my new collection, called 'Whispering Gallery', 3 pm on Sunday 4 November at Tom Collins House Writers Centre, cnr Kirkwood and Wood Streets, Swanbourne (strategically placed between the Australian Army's rifle range and a nudist beach). I extend this open invitation to listees to attend. It is, numerically, my fifth book. However, I shudder at the thought of my first couple, so I kind of think of it as my third 'serious' mature book. Local poet Roland Leach has put together a li'l poetry press called Sunline Press, and I am second in his series, with his collection Drowning Ophelia being the first. I am flattered that he asked me, and am very happy with the production qualities of the book: a sharp cover, hardback volume with quality papers. If perchance you are in Perth - either living here or passing through - come and check out the lamingtons and cordial on the day. Well, there could also be some cheap wine and stale sandwiches. Poet and Professor Andrew Taylor is doing the honours. He swears he does a quick speech, and I will simply read a coupla poems and shut up. Promise.
