Chris Hayden replies: That's pretty good. But I can't believe nobody here
likes clean laundry. I mean, I wouldn't want to do it day in and day out in
some prison (Mark Weiss' post about the conotations of the word laundress)
but I do get some satisfaction out of folding a nice pile of clean, fresh
washed clothes. Maybe that's because I wait so long between washings, and
because my clothes are truly redolent (is that the word?)when I do.

Chris Hayden says: As I stated in a prior post, there are the political
implications. We are lucky they are even including a poetry event here.
They have to worry about offending people from dozens of nations and
hundreds of ethnic groups. Under these circumstances, that we get something
that is at least written by a poet is somewhat of a triumph (Oh, I do hate
sounding like Booker T. Washington about this!)

Anyway I still like the poem, especially when I read it aloud. It is so
joyful, so breezy, so "we can do it if we try, easy as doing the laundry!"

Refreshing!
