"The Martyrdom of Saint Perpetua"

...so there I was with
my sureties and the Ghost
of mt Father in urge
to vex me with
his severe words
to hurst my faith
in God.

And here he came,
my Brother, who with sweet
words told me: lady my Sister,
thou art now in high honour,
even such that thou
mightest ask
for a vision.

And it should be shown thee
whether this be
a passion or else a deliverance.
And I, as knowing
that I conversed with the Lord,
for Whose sake I had suffered
such things, did promise him,
nothing doubting.
And I said: To-morrow, I will
tell thee. And I asked,
and this that I told you
was shown me.
