It is National Science week in the UK (16-25 March). The National Radiological Protection Board in the UK has sponsored a site with a Health Risk model at its core. Players compete to apply their knowledge of risk to an imaginary group of people in "KU World". All 600,000 people in KU world have similar age/risk profiles to the player. You have to rank risks in a presented list and so make most risk reduction by choices on action programmes. Your score is how many of the 600,000 people survive. Seems like a really neat way of presenting the difference between the perception and actuality of risk, although the graphics are clearly to appeal to under 18s. (You need the Flash plug-in to play) http://www.riskit.org.uk There are some links to sites with information about the risks of the activities presented. Current scoreboard leader looks like an insider from NRPB (resident in Didcot, Oxfordshire, UK), go on, give it a go ! Dr. Geoff Helliwell MB ChB CIH FFOM MIOSH Medical Director WellWork Ltd. UK
