I would appreciate it if you could bring this to the attention of any interested students and post it on your departmental notice-boards. Many thanks and apologies for cross-postings ________________________________________________________________________ Warwick University, UK PhD Positions in Physical Chemistry /Chemical Physics EPSRC Funded (UK and EU nationals qualify for fees and maintenance grant) ________________________________________________________________________ Applications are invited from students holding or expecting to achieve a first class or upper second class degree (or European equivalent) for EPSRC funded PhD studentships in the department of chemistry, Warwick University. The positions are available from October 2001 for three years. The students will join the chemical physics group of Dr Stuart Mackenzie and available projects include the partial fragmentation dynamics of weakly bound molecular clusters and restricted-geometry intra-cluster chemistry. Molecular cluster chemistry represents one of the hottest topics in chemical physics and this young research group is developing a variety of novel methods with which to investigate these species. Students will gain experience of modern laser techniques, high vacuum, molecular beams and will be involved in aspects of experimental mechanical and electronic design. Warwick Chemistry has just invested in a 96 processor high performance computing facility which will be used in the theoretical aspects of the project. Previous experimental/computing knowledge, although useful, is not necessary. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Stuart Mackenzie directly by email at the address below or complete the application form on-line at http://www.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/Chemistry/ _______________________________________________ Dr Stuart Mackenzie, Lecturer in Physical Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL tel. 00 44 (0)2476 523241 fax. 00 44 (0)2476 524112 email [log in to unmask] Further info: ************************************************************************ Warwick University is one the UKs most prestigious universities currently ranked in the top 4 UK institutions for research excellence.
